Nobel Prizes say NO to a no-deal Brexit


Presidents of The Royal Society, the UK’s prestigious 358-year old national academy of sciences warn about the dangers of the UK crashing out of the European Union without a good deal for science.

Sir Venki Ramakrishnan PRS is recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2012) and current President of the Royal Society

Sir Paul Nurse FMedSci FRS, recipient of the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine (2001), is a former President of the Royal Society (2010-2015) and current Director of the Francis Crick Institute

Lord Martin Rees OM Kt HonFREng FRS, Astronomer Royal is a former President of the Royal Society (2005-2010)

In the case of a no deal, the worrying prospect for the science community is that science will be sacrificed. So the Royal Society is taking action and speaking out. The 3 speakers have joined together in a letter to the Times to call on Government to stop ideology endangering UK science and innovation.
